Meddygfa Albany Surgery Cardiff is on my radar again, despite me going into the surgery a few years ago with my daughter and saying “under no circumstances should my daughter be prescribed” ‘Rigevidon’ which was logged on the system.

So moving forward to the present day the Doctor has prescribed it again, peer pressuring my daughter by saying the reason why they cannot prescribe ‘Microgynon 30’ stating it is because the NHS are not supplying it any longer and the words were and I quote that “Rigevidon is the same contraceptive pill as Microgynon 30 just in different packaging”.

“To say something is the same as another is called passing off and is illegal to do”.

Forgive me for being cynical here but since when is a GP a branding expert (I am a branding expert, they are not) and also they certainly are not a pharamaceutical lab researcher/scientist?

Since when does a GP or the NHS have the right to use people as Guinea Pigs?

The reason why I am making a ‘hoo ha’ about this is because ‘Rigevidon’ has had ‘Bad Press’ and as a carer it is my duty to intervene when it comes to my daughter’s health.

MORE PRESS.

Rigevidon is a “copycat” version of Microgynon 30 and produced by Gedeon Richter, a manufacturing company that can sell the drug for cheaper, (it is not the same as Microgynon).

‘Microgynon 30’ is produced by Bayer, a Research and Development company that has tested their product on “thousands” of people.

There is no data to say that the NHS cannot obtain supplies of the drug Microgynon 30 and I suspect that depending on the NHS budget will depend if they are able to acquire the drug or not. https://thetab.com/uk/2020/02/07/theres-a-shortage-of-certain-contraceptive-pills-in-the-uk-142775

I may be mistaken but I have not read anything to the contrary about the supply of the drug other than on this article: https://pharmaceutical-journal.com/article/news/contraceptive-pills-to-go-out-of-stock-for-months-resulting-from-capacity-issues and that was two years ago.

If a patient is happy with a drug they have been prescribed and are getting on well with, they should not have their health compromised for the sake of a cost cutting exercise, to be prescribed a cheaper drug.

A spokesman for Gedeon Richter told Express.co.uk: “Many side effects and risks are considered to be class effects of COCs, like bleeding disturbances, mood swings, depression, decreased sexual desire, weight gain, acne and fatigue.

So if there all these side effects why are pharmaceutical companies and the GP’s playing russsian roulette with peoples health?

In my opinion if a drug is not 100% safe it should not be on the market.

I will be contacting ‘Bayer’ for comment to see if they have a problem with manufacturing and supplies: https://www.bayer.co.uk/en/

We will soon see where the problem lies…

Stand up for your rights and you know better than anyone if something suits you or not.

If you have been on a medication for years and all of a sudden the NHS decide to switch brands you have to read the small print as not all drugs are made the same and you need to discuss your concerns with a professional abled body such as your own GP or Pharmacy.

Do your research and if you have to, get a second opinion.

My Thoughts.

I will update this post in due course as soon as I get more information.

The pharmacist who spoke to my daughter today whilst she was on loudspeaker with myself present and another person accused my daughter of raising her voice at her, even though my daughter was being polite and courteous.

This is not the first time this surgery have been defensive and rude and basically said my daughter will not be prescribed ‘Microgynon’ because her explanation why she did not want to take it was not good enough.

I will be making a formal complaint about this surgery and they basically said that if my daughter really needed it she should get it privately and when my daughter said she would go private the person said she would update the records, not sure what that implies?

UPDATE.

I spoke to Bayer.co.uk this afternoon and was told as far as they are aware Microgynon 30 is still being supplied to the NHS without any issues. I forwarded the link to this post to them for further comment.

Am awaiting further response.

Last Update 26/03/21 at 17.13 hours.

New Update 29/03/21

I wrote to the surgery by email here is the screenshot:

So today I get a response from the surgery saying they could not talk about my daughter as my daughter has not given consent. So I asked my daughter to send them an email and they replied back because my daughters email was not on their system they could not continue the discussion.

Obviously I was not going to let this slide so I phoned the practice manager and this was her reponse:

Because my daughter’s email has never been registered with them, they are not prepared to accept my daughter’s consent and she would have to physically come in and sign a form and I said my daugher has MS and cannot walk very well and she said SORRY sacracasticly but that is GDPR ruling. What happened about not coming to the surgery unless it was for emergencies due to Covid Regulations?

My daugher already confirmed who she was by email including giving them her DOB and signature……. They were just being awkward.

Furthermore, the practice manager said I had a “LACK OF RESPECT” to their highly qualified pharmacist and their clinicians and therefore it would be in my best interest to find another practice that could offer me better advice.

Considering a Doctor prescribed Gaviscon for my daugher’s tingling and pins and needles in her feet a few years ago and upon me admitting my daugher to A&E it was found she has Multiple Sclerosis it obviously says how qualified their Clinicians are and for me to have a lack of respect.

One should earn respect in order to get respect. If there is a lack of trust between the patient and the health professional, one has to look at the bigger picture why that is ?

Not once did the practice manager apologise for the rudeness of the ‘Highly Qualified Pharamacist’ and then tried to be patronising by saying if I want to get information off the INTERNET and believe everything that is written including the Sun Newspaper then that was my prerogative, but she omitted to mention ITV conveniently.

The practice manager then threatened me and told me to find another surgery.

I responded that with the 1.7 Google ratings they should be greatful to have as many patients as they could. She continued to say that the NHS have stopped giving out ‘Microgynon’ and I should take it up with Welsh Government.

Now the Domino Effect Has Started.

THE DOMINO EFFECT.

I suffer with OCD I have anxiety attacks and depression and this surgery has made me feel really ill to the extent I cannot face work. My OCD levels have risen all because of this surgery, who do not respect patients health.

I am self employed, I cannot take time off work and go on the sick as I have obligations. My OCD has got worse because of this surgery.

“All I was doing was looking out for the best interest of my daugher and I am obliged as my daughter’s carer to oversee any issues arising from health risks and was simply outlining my concerns and not disrespecting anyone”.

I have been told by the same surgery in the past that the NHS are not obliged to help anyone (this is documented in one of my previous posts) https://marketingagency.cymrumarketing.com/2020/07/29/meddygfa-albany-surgery/

Furthermore my daughter just had a phone call from Cardiff & Vale Health Board who said as far as they are aware the NHS is giving out the contraceptive pill ‘Microgynon’ to all its surgeries and obviously the surgery I have referred to Meddygfa Albany Surgery City Road, Cardiff, must know something they do not.

The practice manager went on to say it is not a cost cutting exercise as they do not pay for the drugs and only the NHS do and that my daughter needs to go to a sexual clinic if she want ‘Microgynon’ and they have been told by the NHS do not prescribe the medication. (This is where she and the ‘highly qualified pharmacist have contradicted themselves advising on both occasions to seek the medication from a NHS Sexual Health Clinic but in the same breath saying the NHS are not stocking the brand and that their surgery is not prescribing it).

The surgery has pushed my buttons too many times and I will take it up with the Welsh Government and the Ombudsman and will tag the surgery to my post as people should not be threatened especially by a health professional that they depend on to prescribe repeat prescriptions and should take on board any anxieties a patient might have. My daughter was also threatened by the pharmacist last week from the same surgery that called my daugher back that if she was not happy with their decision she should leave the surgery and find a new one. Again my daugher depends on repeat prescription medication.

My hands are shaking from todays fiasco.

The NHS is still providing the contraceptive pill, end of argument.

Polyethylene glycol (PEG Allergy) as a cause of anaphylaxis

Polyethylene glycol (PEG Allergy) as a cause of anaphylaxis

Disclaimer: This article is intended for people who have concerns about PEG Allergies and who need to safeguard their health and that of their families. It is NOT intended for those who are anti-vaccine and as such is NOT intended to adopt a discussion on the merits of vaccines on this blog. It is also NOT intended as an invitation for a discussion of the lethality of COVID-19 or the need for civic action to limit the spread of the disease.

Adverse Reactions.

I wrote my concerns about the adverse effects of having the Covid Vaccine in a previous article, I have since read further medical concerns which I will publish along with all the fact checking citations.

People who have had a severe PEG Allergy in the past are advised to talk to a health professional before taking the vaccine.

The link to my previous article is below:

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a cause of anaphylaxis

Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) or macrogols are polyether compounds and are widely used as additives in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food.

PEGs are also used in everyday products such as toothpaste and shampoo as thickeners, solvents, softeners, and moisture carriers, and they’ve been used as a laxative for decades. An increasing number of biopharmaceuticals include PEGylated compounds as well.

According to the MIT, PEGs are basically tiny, greasy spheres that are used in COVID vaccines to protect the active ingredient (mRNA) and help it penetrate cells. It is within cells that the mRNA can go to work priming the immune system.

PEGs have also been confirmed to cause allergic reactions in rare cases, but how rare is not known.

PEG-2000 is an ingredient used in both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. If the compound is found to be the cause of the six allergic reactions to date, it will help the CDC hone their guidance further by narrowing the list of those that should not receive the vaccine.

Instead, CDC guidelines recommend not giving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines to anyone with a history of severe allergic reaction to any component of the vaccine. For people who have had a severe reaction to another vaccine or injectable medication, the risks and benefits of vaccination should be carefully weighed, CDC says.

Patients with undiagnosed PEG allergy often have a history of immediate onset-unexplained anaphylaxis or anaphylaxis to multiple classes of drugs or an unexplained anaphylaxis. Such individuals should not be vaccinated with the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, except on the expert advice of an allergy specialist. The AstraZeneca vaccine can be used as an alternative (unless otherwise contraindicated), particularly if they previously tolerated an injected influenza vaccine. The vaccine should be administered in a setting with full resuscitation facilities (e.g. a hospital), and a 30 minute observation period is recommended.

Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis (pronounced ana-fil-ax-is) is a severe and often sudden allergic reaction. It can occur when someone with allergies is exposed to something, they are allergic to (known as an allergen). Reactions usually begin within minutes and rapidly progress but can occur up to 2-3 hours later.

What are the causes of anaphylaxis?

The common causes of anaphylaxis include foods such as peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, shellfish, fish, sesame seeds and kiwi fruit, although many other foods have also been known to trigger anaphylaxis. Some people can react to tiny amounts of food, although this rarely causes a very severe reaction. Non-food causes include wasp or bee stings, natural latex (rubber), and certain drugs such as penicillin. In some people exercise can trigger a severe reaction – either on its own or in combination with other factors such as food or drugs (for example, aspirin).

European anaphylaxis-registry with currently 7935 registered anaphylactic cases only three were induced by macrogol. These findings may imply that polyethylene glycol hypersensitivity is potentially life-threatening but probably underdiagnosed as many drugs and food items contain macrogol. Handling patients with macrogol hypersensitivity can be challenging because of the extensive allergologic work up, the necessity of the physician’s expertise and the limited avoidance options because many drugs, including those used for the treatment of allergic reactions such as antihistamines may contain macrogol as an additive. Therefore, specific product labeling and awareness is required. Patients should be educated about drugs which may contain PEGs, but also other products like lubricants or ultrasound gels. An increased patient and physician awareness to the allergic potential of macrogol must be discussed before taking the Covid Vaccine.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warns:

If you have had a severe allergic reaction—also known as anaphylaxis—to any ingredient in the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, you should not get vaccinated.*

*If you have had a severe allergic reaction to other vaccines or injectable therapies, ask your doctor if you should get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Your doctor will help you decide if it is safe for you to get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

PEG-2000 is an ingredient used in both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. FINAL THOUGHTS

If you have doubts speak to your local health care provider, a health professional before taking the vaccine.

From personal experience my daughters GP failed to mention that the reaction she had from an MRI contrast dye could well have been an anaphylaxis allergy and was not advised about having her second vaccine. This is very worrying considering the same GP practice prescribed her Gaviscon which later transpired after we went to A&E that my daughter did not have gastric problems but was in fact diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

Meddygfa Albany Surgery

Albany Surgery City Road Cardiff.

This must be my 3rd or 4th post about this surgery to date.

Today I need to vent my anger out as someone is lying to me again……..

According to ‘Boots’ whom I have elected for the past few years to collect my prescriptions, my prescription were not delivered today. This is happening every month my prescriptions are not being sent to the pharmacy from my GP’s. In which every month the pharmacy for the last few months have had to chase the GP for my medication. It is never on time.

Not knowing the explanation why that has happened I phoned the GP Surgery today to get an explanation and this is what I found:

Meddygfa Albany Surgery 219-221 City Rd, Cardiff CF24 3JD 029 2048 6561

I phoned twice as the first time the phone cut off whilst I was waiting to be put through and finally when I got to speak to the person on the other end, I asked why my medication was not at the Chemist and wanted to know why that was. The person on the other end (male) replied that I was due a medical review and that I was notified I had to contact the surgery.

I asked how was I notified considering I did not receive a letter in the post an sms, a telephone or email?

The person said that they notified me by sending a slip out with my prescription. Obviously I could not argue that if it was true or not as I did not have Boots on a conference call at the time to confirm if it was correct or not?

I simply said I had a review about 10 months ago, how often do I need a review?, in which he could not answer me.

I went onto say I have run out of medication and cannot stop my medication to which he replied there is nothing he can do.

Imagine if my medication was a life saving drug such as patients with heart conditions or transplants etc, imagine if their medication stopped suddenly, I shudder to think what would happen.

I continued to say the NHS cannot refuse to help me and he said yes they can refuse and until I get my review he will not be able to sort out a prescription, but then contradicted himself and said if I were to find out what time tomorrow the Chemist was going to collect the prescription he would have it ready. LOL.

He also said I needed to contact the surgery tomorrow to speak with the pharmacist at 8am (I will see how long it takes me to get through as I have redialled over 100 times in the past) as the pharmacist was not in today. Since when is a pharmacist qualified to review my medication and my health?, I would have thought it was the Doctors job to review my medication and my health not a pharmacist? How can she prescribe more medication or know what is the most suitable drug is going to be for me. I would have thought pharmacists are not qualified to write out medication or assess anyones health let alone access my files. They are there to do one thing only and that is to dispense drugs and give recomendations but not advice.

I need to record my calls from now on.

Like I said in my previous post’s about this surgery they should be working at least five days a week not come in for a day or half a day. But thinking about this I will be speaking with a pharmacist that cannot be right surely?

This is bad management on the surgeries part and considering they have my telephone, email and address they could have easily contacted me by these means but they said they sent a slip out with my last medication and it was the responsibility of the patient to arrange a medical review. But how was I to know I had one due when no one told me?

I proceeded to call ‘Boots’ and speak with the person I spoke to earlier when I enquired why my medication had not been delivered and told her what the surgery had told me. She replied that the surgery have had a lot of problems with prescriptions the last few months and that “there was never a slip given to her notifying her or me I needed a medical review” when she had collected my prescriptions last month and the month before otherwise she would have told me.

The surgery said it is not their resposibility if the message is not passed on to me and it is not their responsibility if the chemist happens to loose the notification. (My answer to that is do not use third party companies or people to pass on messages and contact the patient directly, via sms, email telephone or post), Its not hard.

Do not pass the buck and say it is not your problem, yes it is your problem if you fail to do your job correctly and someone becomes ill because of your incompetance. I am now ill because of the GP Surgery.

Due to the incompetence of the surgery they have successfully made me feel very anxious and depressed.

I feel like crying and as for work I cannot face doing anything at all. However I need to work as I am self employed and no one will do my work for me.

OCD intrusive thoughts can be triggered by anything that can cause distress or anxiety to a person. Not only do I suffer with OCD, I also have Clinical Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), I am also suffering with Social Anxiety Disorder and want to Social Distance myself permanently.

My OCD primarily has been by far been ‘germ contamination’ but lately and especially todayintrusive thoughts‘ are starting to take over and I am fighting really hard against them. I just need something to take the edge of things and not let me think too deeply…..

Furthermore I went onto say to the guy at the surgery to just put in the notes about the patient on the system I had called and to say that the patient say’s “there is no change at the time I was speaking with him”. He said he could not put that in the notes as he was not medically qualified, I responded you do not need to be qualified to type a few words in the notes and in a way I am glad he did not, as my OCD and Depression has increased ten-fold since getting off the phone from him as now and only now because of today’s incident I have gone into a deeper darker place and my OCD, & Depression has got much, much worse.

I wrote a post a few days ago about ‘Mental Health‘ and I feel I am spiralling deeper into my depression and my anxiety because of people that have no empathy and do not give two monkeys about your health and will lie through their teeth to defend themselves and their corner when in reality they are the weak link and due to bad management the patient has to suffer even more.

Also when I had my last medical review (about 10 months ago) I said I would contact them if there was any change, well thanks to the surgery I am today officially on a scale of:

Date 29/07/20

OCD Germ Contamination (20) & Intrusive thoughts (15 -20) PTSD – (15-19) Depression (16-19) Social Anxiety Disorder (20)

The scale calculator of 1 to 20 with 1 being in good spirits and 20 being bad spirits, I am showing really bad signs. I want to cry and my heart is palpitating and I am getting intrusive thoughts all because of this surgery.

Yet yesterday 28/07/20 I was on a scale of:

OCD Germ Contamination (14) & Intrusive thoughts (1 -5) PTSD – (15-19) Depression (9-11) Social Anxiety Disorder (12)

I need something to calm me down and I am trying and fighting so hard to not go out and buy myself a bottle of (Vodka) to make my thoughts go away. I have low on medication so there is nothing I can take to calm me down.

I feel the NHS has failed me and considering I am a British Citiizen and pay my Taxes you would think I would have a better service. If you look at all the NHS Reviews in this blog you will find this is not he first incident I have written about them.

Before anyone suggests anything, I do not want to speak to anyone especially the surgery, why is it that I have to phone them to chase them up to do this medical review when it is their job to follow up (considering they supposedly care about your well being). If I were the surgery and had not heard from the patient within a month of requesting a medical review I would have followed up until I got hold of that patient and not stop their medication completely. What if the person is dependant (as I am) on the medication and this causes the person to become more ill, should the NHS compensate for their mis-doings? This is the NHS GP’ surgery’s fault, not mine.

On top of this I am bound to loose business because every hour I am not working I am loosing business and do not have someone to take over me when I am ill, so its not as if I can go one the sick.

I am livid yet again and extremely sad, I feel I cannot function properly all because of this GP surgery today. You watch their lame excuse when I finally speak to someone tomorrow and mark my words I will be following up with an update to this post.

Signing Out…

UPDATE THURSDAY 30/07/2020

So I phoned the GP Surgery promptly at 8am (Suprisingly I got through without re-dialling) this morning just like the operater yesterday had told me to do and I was greeted by what I assume was a middle aged woman anyway I explain I need to have a medical review and have phoned to arrange one.

Now wait for this you will be gob smacked…….

She only tells me I am not due a medical review (which is what I tried telling the guy yesterday)????

I went on to say but I have not had my medication from the pharmacy and she replied I have not had any medication since May 2020. I tried correcting her and she was adament she was right and I was wrong, so I continued to say that I can prove I had medication every single month and am due medication for end of July beginning of August and she then replied that the pharmacy had not put a request in? (She was making an excuse to cover her back as you will find out later when I got to speak to the same guy I spoke to yestaerday when I phoned back the second time today).

So tell me something am I loosing the plot here or what?

I said so what happens now?, she said seeing that I believe I need a medical review (sarcastically) she will arrange for the pharmacist to ring me back. She asked for my best telephone number to reach me on and when I asked her to confirm the number she told me to tell her the number again in which I said but I just told you the number so please repeat it back to me. Her tone in her voice went up a notch and she quickly said the number and before I could say anything else she hung up on me.

I wanted her name and an estimated time when the pharmacist was going to phone me as I had meetings scheduled on Zoom all day today and would have kept a slot free for the pharmacist. It is now 3 hours since I made the call and no one has phoned me back. I have wasted a whole morning of business and cancelled my appointments in which I have lost both clients because of the incompentant surgery as they were not prepared to arrange another meeting with me……..Thanks for that Meddygfa Albany Surgery!!!!!!!!

I suspect I know who I spoke to (intitials CC) but I could be wrong. Its not the first time I have had altercations with this individual so it would be no suprise to me if it was one and the same person. The person I spoke to today was rude and unempathetic.

I am struggling to function right now because the ar@@ does not know what the elbow is doing.

I phoned them back a few minutes ago and their response was that I should have phoned the surgery every time my medication was late.

I was told and this time by the same guy I spoke to yesterday that regardless if I needed a medical review or not I had to phone the surgery (back tracking his words from yesterday) if my medication was late.

I said the pharmacy said they would deal with it so I should not have to double check to see if the pharmacy have done their job or not as there has to be an element of trust and respect for the pharmacy considering they have always said if there is a problem they would phone me back.

I went on to say it is not my job to chase people up and this is when he got defensive and said but it is my job as it is my medication and that there have been no issues with deliveries at all since November of last year. B@llS@@t. (Not once have they been on time as he read out all random dates when I received my medication).

The pharmacy can vouch that there has been a problem month after month and I am sick to the back teeth hearing about the GP surgery lame excuses and passing the buck.

I am certainly going to be looking at a different practice when this pandemic is over.

According to guy I spoke to today and yesterday, the internal pharmacist that gives the authorisation to have my medication dispensed by a pharmacy signed off the medication today, yet did not phone me, so when I said cancelled all my meeting today for nothing to wait for this phone call that never materialised, I did not even get an apology.

Who is going to compensate me for my mental health well being that has gone through the roof and loss of business today and I cannot see myself working? even though I have to, as I run a business and business cannot stop because I feel unwell.

I said since yesterday both the guy today and the operator this morning had caused my stress & anxiety levels to increase tenfold and his reply was he would arrange for a GP to phone me back which would mean me cancelling the rest of my appointments for today. In sheer fustration I said forget it I will hit the Vodka bottle instead.

He went on to say because my medication had “MAXED OUT” that is why I needed the internal pharmacist to redo the prescription request. He also said she had authorised two months worth, so what happens in October, will I have to go through this B@#LL Sh#@t all over again? (Heads will roll if I do). You would be suprised who I know with nearly 8,000 connections on LinkedIn………..So why could he not have done this yesterday and if there was a problem with my medication ‘maxing out‘ (surely I cannot be blamed for that aswell) it should be the surgeries responsibility to notify the patient but again he backtracked on his word from yesterday. So this is (Bad Business Management). Besides what does Maxing Out mean exactly?, when I have had repeat prescriptions for years and now they use the words ‘maxing out’.

He also said the last time I had medication was end of May 2020.

Yet here is proof what should have been end of June was beginning of July, so someone is telling porkies or not using their heads. Originally my medication was dispensed in the middle of the month and has slowly crept to the end of the month with the exception of the 1st of July which threw people off guard.

Evidence – What Should have been end of June was Beginning of July.

I wonder how many people in Roath use this surgery and will read this post will agree with what I am saying and will share their nightmare stories.

I plan to share this post on www.roathlife.com and on www.roathlife.co.uk (These are my websites).

COMPLAINING ABOUT A GP SURGERY.

I am not stopping there, One cannot complain directly to the surgery witholut writing a formal letter, although I do have an email Prescribing.Clerk.W97014@wales.nhs.uk which I will try to contact first.

If that fails I plan to complain to concerns@wales.nhs.uk and if not to my satisfaction which most probably it won’t as they all back each other up from past experience about other matters I have escalated, I will take it to www.ombudsman-wales.org.uk

To top it all I had to drop everything I was doing including finishing typing the end of the post, as all of a sudden I was getting bad chest pains and jaw ache. I took two Gaviscon tablets thinking not the worst as I am not a hypochondriac and am an optimist rather than a pesimist and some pain killers and after about 20 minutes the pain subsided, but for sure I got a little worried and did not want to alarm my daughter, but thankfully the pain went away. This is a sure sign that I have worked myself up because of these people.

I am signing out and am just going to chill and read a book or something just to try and calm myself down.

NHS Complaint – Well Roath Pharmacy City Road Cardiff

Meddygfa Albany Surgery & Well Roath Pharmacy City Road

Due to the coronavirus people who are vulnerable are given the option to have their medication delivered to their property as in the case of my daughter.

So last week I arranged for the medication to be delivered to my property but forgot that my daughter had a hospital appointment and because I cannot get up and down the stairs I would have relied on her to open the door to get the medication from the courier.

The pharmacy was reluctant to do a delivery and the pharmacist I spoke to said is there anyone that can collect the medication on behalf of my daughter i.e a neighbour or friend.

So again the pharmacy have contradicted themselves they asked if we knew anyone that could pick up the medication, but would not leave the medication with a secure neighbour inside my house.

Now you have to imagine the scenario I live in a terrace house, I live upstairs with my daughter, whilst there is a young family down stairs who are my tennants so I trust them implicitly, furthermore my door bell is a video cam so I can record who is at my door should I wish to do so ( however in this instance I did not and in a way I am gutted as I could have uploaded it but mores the pity I did not record it, lesson learnt I suppose for future).

Now pre covid-19 you as a patient can nominate anyone to pick up your prescription from over the counter if you are unable to do so yourself.

Here is my rant the courier came whilst my daughter was out, so I could not go down the stairs but I heard my tennant open the door. the courier did not want to leave the medication with my tennant and proceeded then to intercom me where I said to him I could not go down the stairs and for him to leave it with my tennant.

He refused point blank and said he would get sacked and I said “who would report him to get sacked” ceratainly not me seeing as I would be grateful that he had empathy and had done my daughter a favour and saved her from exposing her to an unsafe and dangerous environment.

So if my daughter God Forbid contracts this disease I can then sue the Pharmacy and the Courier and the NHS, I would go after everyone individually and I was once told by a solicitor that I could have been one 🙂

He went onto say he could not leave the medication with anyone other than the name on the parcel. I said but the medication is for my daughter and not for me, so my name is not on the parcel. He then said but he could leave it with me, so he contradicted himself as my name was not on the parcel.

I called him an “a@@eh@@e” and he doubled back and said what did you say?, being confrontational in which I turned off the intercom and cut him off.

Now my daughter has to go to the pharmacy to risk her own life to collect the medication that this idiot could have left with my tennant, who could have been the nominated person to collect the prescription over the counter pre-covid time and I could have recorded the delivery on my ‘Bell Cam’, but the courier did not give me a chance to do that.

I understand the point that you cannot hand over the medication to just anyone, but this was my tennant and I could have recorded the whole thing as an added precaution and security measure.

I am now going to name and shame this courier and pharmacy and the GP Surgery:

https://finder.well.co.uk/store/roath-city-road

I do not give a damn about this GP and Pharamacy and they have been on my radar for a long time now, with the doctor mis-diagnosing my daughter and giving her Gaviscon for a Auto-Immune Disease.

Not only this, when I first contacted the named pharmacy they refused to do the delivery and said they will do it just this once out of charity and tried to get us to ask a neighbour or friend to come and collect it instead…(no security issue there so it seems).

Yet you expect to clap for them every Thursday, they know what they are doing when they sign up for a job, you would not see soldiers crying because they are on the front line the same goes for the NHS they know what they signed up for when they chose the job.

For the pharmacy making that statement and being reluctant to do the delivery, my daughter already reported them to the council once already, she aims to do it again if this medication is not delivered.

One knows the risks prior for doing the job, so do not moan about the job and do your job properly.

Yes the doctors and nurse do a grand job don’t get me wrong but you would not pay off a heart surgeons mortgage if you had a heart attack and he saved your life. The same goes for the MOD (Ministry of Defence), but we do not stand on the doorstep clapping our hands for them, do we !

So to top it all my daughter went to collect the medication from the pharmacy after being told by the courier it would be back at the pharamcy today. Only to be told by the pharmacy the courier had not come back. So my daughter is now going to have to go again a second time.

15.52 The saga continues. I phoned the pharmacy and asked to see how we could resolve the ongoing problem and they said they attempted to deliver once so they have done their job…….

I reiterrated that my daughter is vulnerable and she cannot go again to the pharmacy, so they replied they will ask their one and only driver to deliver it again but could not make and guarantees. The pharmacy have no care for the patients well being.

I put the question to them if I was to send my tennant to the pharmacy what would be the difference of leaving the medication with the same tennant that lived in my house? The pharmasist could not answer me other than saying delivery drivers have to leave the medication with the patient. So if I was able to get downstairs this morning and I am not the patient the delivery driver should not have been able to give the medication to me, yet he said he was going to leave it with me even though I was not the named patient on the package.

Watch how they will try and justify their shambles of an excuse of a rule that makes no sense at all, that can be broken depending if the person used their intiative and used more than one brain cell. If I was the courier I would have asked the tennant to sign for the medication, its not hard and would have covered his sorry a@@e!

So the appointed person can collect the medication but the delivery driver cannot leave it with the appointed person even though the delivery would be video recorded….. work that one out?

My daughter also observed how the pharmacist was walking at a super slow pace even though there was a queue of people waiting in a line on the foot path in the scorching sun to be served. My daughter said the pharmacist was slower than a sloth

and was asking a patient to re-spell multiple times.

By coincidence I assume it was the same person that asked me three times today to spell the name of my daughter, which only has four characters in the name.

If I was the manager of that pharmacy I would have a stop watch on my staff member and retrain my staff.

This is unbelievable and a total shambles.

If the one and only driver fails to deliver, then tomorrow they will feel my wrath and will be showing them this post.

17.57 Update the Driver Failed to Deliver, why does that not suprise me….

Update Tuesday 26th May 2020

The same digruntled courier did deliver the medication and these are my daughters words not mine, “his body language and tone in his voice gave the impression he does not like his job”.

***Do not use this GP or Pharmacy they are a waste of space.

Making an Appoint with Albany Surgery 219-221 City Rd, Cardiff CF24 3JD

Its been a while since I wrote about this GP as I have simply avoided going to them after my last attempt to book in a routine appointment to have my ears syringed by the nurse to be told I needed to see the doctor first. I know I have a problem and I have suffered with this for the last 20 years so 4 years ago I attempted to make an appointment to no avail. I do not see the point of wasting a doctors time when they could use it for more serious matters and free up appointments and I will know what the doctor will say and that is I need to see the nurse.

To me this is bad management and they seriously need business consulting training. The receptionist are rude and hostile. I would expect them to be empathatic considering people also have mental health issues so to be down right rude they should be either re-trained or dismissed, one or the other.

So today I phone up and am put on hold for 20 minutes on a count down of how many people are waiting in a queue. When they finally answer they say all the appointments have gone for today and I should ring back tomorrow. I do not have time to play these stupid games. They have a computer in front of them and there is nothing stopping them making an entry for the following day. But they choose to stress people out which makes no sense to me. Also not everyone can phone at 08.30 and if they do the lines are engaged which is infuriating to say the least.

The alternative was that you can book the appointments online yourself but first……….wait for it………you need to come into the surgery to fill in the form to register online before, you can register online if you see what I mean: https://www.myhealthonline-inps2.wales.nhs.uk/register

Now anyone knows that when you visit a professional website one can register online, which to me what they are asking is time consuming and stressful and total nonsense.

I for one am not going to close my business down to come to their surgery to fill out a form, I have a business to run. I have emailed them and am waiting to see if they reply. If they don’t I will make waves.

It is absolutely appauling how they treat their patients and I for one have had enough of having to run around them, when they obviously have bad management and do not care about how they treat people.

Look at all the bad reviews: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=alabany+surgery+cardiff#lrd=0x486e1cbf9261648f:0x9d4a1ba0311f2c70,1,,,

Its a wonder they have any patients left !!!

ALBANY SURGERY CITY RD CARDIFF

Albany Surgery.

Address: 219-221 City Rd, Cardiff CF24 3JD.

Absolutely awful service!!!.

Even their website looks dated and unprofessional including unsecure. Google plan to take these websites down. Its shows the surgery is lacking funds if they cannot pay for a decent website, get more telephone lines and staff to mann them, let alone only have one Doctor in the Surgery all day.

How is this possible that there is only one Doctor on duty all day during the week? Bad Management, if your running a service you should have a team of doctors everyday you are open and not have one Doctor on duty in the middle of the week.

Want time off take advantage of the weekends.

Furthermore what other company asks their clients to phone all at the same time potentially jamming the phone system.?

There is a traditional way of taking bookings by using a diary for a week in advance.

Not all people can phone at 8am as they may be working?

The surgery is poorly managed and the NHS need to intervene as peoples lives could be at risk if they cannot manage to see a Doctor on any given day.

Imagine if this was an elderly person or someone who is vulnerable with mental health issues and may phone only to get a hostile response and will not bother to phone back again.

I only have good reviews for for the one GP ‘DR R.Dolben’ whom I have been with for over 20 years, he has always been understanding, considerate and very professional and knows what he is talking about unlike his colleagues whom do not seem to know what they are doing.

As an example my daughter who is 17 went to see a GP at the practice as she was complaining she was experiencing pins and needles and sometimes numbness to the bottom half of her body. The GP she saw was NOT Dr Dolben but a different Doctor who did not know what my daughter was talking about, dismissed her symptoms as phantom and prescribed her ‘Gaviscon’ an antacid indigestion remedy.

My daughter has since been diagnosed with MS after we went to A&E and started the ball rolling on our own after being disatisfied with the GP’s response. If we had done nothing my daughter would have been disabled or bed ridden, now she has a chance with the medication she is due to have over the next couple of weeks.

I for one suffer with OCD, I have trouble interacting with people so to make the decision to make an appointment at the Surgery today 31/07/18 was a big deal for me. I was told by the receptionist that the day was for emergencies only as there was only one Doctor on Duty? I told her my medication had run out and she said it was not an emergency. I cannot stop my medication ‘Mirtazapine’ suddenly and she cannot make that desicion and told me to phone back tomorrow at 8am…..

Luckily for me I am self employed and can choose my hours when I can see a GP but she did not know that and I said it was my day off today. So that would mean if people who have 9 -5 jobs this potentialy means they cannot be seen by a doctor as the surgery. the surgery opens at 08.30 and if you have to be at work for 9am how would that work out? OK they may work until 18.00 but what if you 9-5 job entailed you commuting an hour each way?

In my opinion that should have one late night up to 20.00 hours that way the people that have 9-5 jobs would be seen. The surgery cannot expect people to take time off work to go to a Doctors appointment and loose money. The surgery should also take bookings a week in advance and not make people phone at 8am all at the same time. This is ridiculous in my opinion.

Some people have to travel to work, some drive and cannot redial 100 times or more in order to get an appointment especially if they are driving. By taking time off work you potentially could have your wages docked, but do the surgeries care? of course they don’t!

Furhtermore the receptionists ask personal questions which should only be discussed with the GP, yet they ask what medication you are taking or what is wrong with you before making an appointment. (Their answer is that they need to know to prioritise patients in order of serious to non serious symptoms).

When I asked Dr Dolben why they do this he answered as above to prioritise and that they too are bound by patient/doctor confidentiality. I think this is wrong as half the time you don’t know the name of the receptionist but they know everything about you.

This is unexceptable as a patient should not have to discuss anything with a receptionsist other than to make or cancel an appointment or ask if their prescriptions are ready.

I have see and heard with my own eyes and ears how some receptionsist speak to the patients yet there are massive notices everywhere saying they have zero torlerance for rude behaviour. One should practice what one preaches before putting up such signs. Obviously there are individuals that do not take no for an answer and can become aggressive so I understand the policy but staff need to be curtious also, whats good for the goose is good for the gander so to speak.

I was going to give them a bad review on Google but I still need to be registered with this practice and who is to say that the Practice Manager does not unregister people for speaking their minds. After all if I had bad reviews, I would possibly refuse to continue giving the service to that individual.

Saying this I have heard that most General Practices in Cardiff have adopted the same system to phone at 8am precisely, with a first come first served basis. Elderly people do not have smartphones to continue redialling by pressing the green redial button and traditional home phones take time to redial unlike the smart versions.

Something has to change and I will be contacting the health board to make an official complaint. I don’t mind going to UHW to be seen by a doctor, should I get thrown out of my surgery for speaking my mind.
