Start the Business You Dream About: Prevail Over Your Fears

Starting a business comes with its share of perks, such as being in charge of the company and your financial future. It comes with risks as well, which can be frightening. You, however, need to overcome those fears to reap the rewards. But how do you go about this? Here are some tips from UK Business Banking on how to get started.

Begin as a Side Hustle

If you currently don’t have the financial means to put all your eggs in one basket, work on your business as a side hustle. Continue working your current job, but use your free time to begin your company. This way, you still have stability with less risk and can see if entrepreneurship is a fit for you.

Take Advantage of Free Tools

When starting out, you will likely have limited resources and will need to stretch your funds as far as possible. This means you should use free software and apps whenever

possible. If you’re working with images and documents, for example, use a free online tool to turn your image into a PDF in lieu of purchasing dedicated software. This way, you can store your images in the cloud for free, as well as distribute them as you like.

Know Your Strengths and Weaknesses

Before you begin, take time to reflect on your strengths as well as your weaknesses. Hone in on your strengths as much as you can, and consider hiring help to handle the areas of business where you’re less proficient. For instance, if you’re not artistic, consider hiring a professional to develop your logo. If you’re not familiar with search engine optimization (SEO) and web design, hire a freelancer or company to assist.

Choose a Business Structure Early

When you start planning your business, select a business structure early. This affects how you operate your company. One option is a limited company. It limits your personal liability in case of a lawsuit, which can be a relief if you’re worried about losing your home if an issue arises. Use an online formation service to assist in this process. Doing this helps you comply with the law while spending less of your time handling the paperwork.

Implement Certain Marketing Tactics

How you market your business has a strong impact on your success. Part of the equation consists of digital marketing since the Internet is where most people go to find products or services. You can automate digital marketing efforts with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution to integrate with all your existing tools and services to seamlessly help your marketing reach go further.

Nevertheless, you can’t neglect traditional marketing tactics. For example, you should have a business card to give to people you meet. It makes a lasting impression and acts as a gentle reminder of your products or services. You can create business cards online using a pre-fabricated template that allows you to choose your colors, images, text, and font.

Create a Strong Business Plan

Establish a strong business plan that covers a variety of elements, such as your marketing, including your website. Part of your business plan should cover aspects that make your website convenient. For example, save yourself and clients or customers time and hassle by enabling your app or website to accept payments. This promotes long-term growth and makes it simple for your clients or customers.

Compare your payment options carefully. You want a system that doesn’t charge astronomical credit card processing fees and lets your customers or clients know they have the funds available for payment.

Have Realistic Expectations

While making £1 million in your first year of operations would be wonderful, this isn’t realistic. The average small business owner earns less than £30,000 per year. When you’re just getting started, it takes time to gain exposure and become successful.

Risk-Taking Can Equal Success

Although it might seem scary and overwhelming to take a chance, overcoming your fears and starting a business can lead to success.

Why is Content Writing Important?

Why is Content Writing Important?

Content Writing helps to engage the visitor and encourages them to come back, not only this content writing, written on a continuous basis helps to rank your website and gives domain authority.

I have in the past successfully written posts and used the following technique I am about to share with you to get domain names indexed and ranked.

My Strategy.

  • Write engaging quality content about your niche.
  • Monetize your article with affiliate links.
  • Perform SEO (add keywords, meta descriptions).
  • Forward your domain name if you have one to the article.
  • Upload the link to your article (your page) to Google Console Manager manually.
  • Wait a few days for Google to crawl your site.
  • Share your article on social media.

Content writing is an essential part of getting business because it draws prospective clients to your website.

A website that is static and does not have regular content on its pages will never move up the ladder in terms of the ranking of domain authority, in fact, may eventually start disappearing. The name of the game is to get your website on the first page of search engines and keep it there, whilst not letting your content become stale. No one wants to keep coming back to a boring website, especially if you are promoting services rather than selling products.

Search engines prefer to see websites that have new content. As an example, I have a static site called www.ukwebsitedesigners.co.uk and at one point it was on page 5 of search results so because I do not have a blog for this particular static website, just a page titled blogs. Hence what I have started doing is adding backlinks to the articles I have previously written and published on my other blogs. This creates content for my static site whilst boosting my articles from my other sites. You do not have to have to use your own articles but publish links that have high Moz Domain Authority to other sites relevant to your niche.

The best way of attracting customers is to create quality content that can encourage people to read your articles.

Simply posting and forgetting your articles does not help, one needs to go a step further and share your content on social media platforms, groups, and pages. Granted providing you do your SEO correctly your article will be indexed and ranked but it does not bring traffic in quickly. One needs to do networking and share articles to email lists and directly to your connections. Depending on your budget you can also consider PPC advertising to boost traffic but always try the free options first. With my strategies, I have not had to pay for PPC advertising for many years and have saved myself hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Having an exact match searchable keyword or phrase domain name plays a small part in search engine optimization and it is the content writing by far that attracts visitors.

Usually writing something that businesses and people can relate to and offering problem-solving strategies will bring people to you.

If you have time to write articles yourself or have a content writing department you can get your staff to write articles on your behalf, alternatively, you can outsource the work and use companies such as Fiverr, the link is below or hire us directly.

Keep your business moving forward

Remember a static site will sit in the same place and may even move down the ladder as more websites are created if you do not do content marketing. The same is said if you list a domain name for sale on your website and do not perform SEO how do you expect anyone to find the domain name if you do not write quality content and give the prospective buyer an idea of what your domain is about; if it is developed?, if it is generating traffic?, and is on the first page of search engines for the search terms?

It amazes me how many websites that have not branded themselves to the extent that they hire PR and Marketing/Advertising Agencies wonder why they are not getting enough business in through the door is because they are not offering something that is engaging and catching the audience’s attention.

Your website should be on the first couple of pages of Google primarily in the No 1 spot and you should talk about your business with the world just like you would have weekly staff meetings. People get bored of the same content all the time. You have to write quality content so the search engines can see there is something new about your website.

SEO

Not so long ago go someone on the first page of Google because he was in the process of building a website and needed an immediate online presence. I successfully did that and as a consequence gave him a backlink that gave him domain authority when his website got launched by a third party he was using. I mentioned his name and his website throughout the body of the content not only in the header title and performed SEO.

You can do this also and if you do not have time to do it yourself then outsource the work or hire us.

It is cheaper to do content writing and have backlinks from websites that are already indexed and ranked; than paying costly pay “Per Click Advertising”.

Some third-party backlink services charge for quality backlinks which cost anything up to $50 – $500 per link our MOZ Domain Authority is (9) which tells you Google will favor your links and boost your ranking if you are mentioned on our site. Yet you only pay for the content writing and not the backlinks which we give you for free.

Visibility

If you want more visibility we offer a monthly marketing plan and you get banner ads on our websites and a landing page all for one price.

Pricing

Here is our pricing for content at a glance, it is less than a night out at a pub or a take-away.

UK Content Writers

(The Domain Name Belongs To Us And Is Part Of Our Marketing And Advertising Strategy. It Serves As An Advertising Banner).

Would you rather invest in something that can boost your ranking and drive traffic to your website or are you content simply having a landing page that people visit but then do not do anything and just leave with the risk of not returning?

Monetization

You should also consider monetizing your articles, and chose affiliate links that match your niche and what you are writing about, rather than adding random adverts. By embedding affiliate links you are giving people choice whilst making money simply by promoting someone else’s product or service.

Keep your business moving forward

Another way to monetize your website, and the blog article is to get other people to be the affiliates and you as the advertiser give the publisher a commission if your product; and service sell using tracking algorithms with a company that I use called Awin. Millions of companies give publishers the opportunities to market their products and services so you can also be one of them. As an example, you may find domain brokers not selling your domains quick enough but imagine if you could give a commission to someone who could find you a buyer.

(Disclaimer- Please read my previous article about domain names because unless they are short one-word dot coms or have equity, you will find it very difficult to sell unless you can perhaps find a domain investor or startup possibly purchasing your domain name for a project they may have in mind. Not everyone has deep pockets).

If you have any questions just drop us a message using the form below, it could be you have a bespoke project and may need a little help getting traffic.

www.MarketingCardiff.com

www.MARKETINGCARDIFF.com

I am pleased to announce that I have acquired www.marketingcardiff.com by a fluke.

It was not available last year as I am always looking for ways to generate more traffic, so I was surprised to see it on the IONOS marketplace and had to grab it.

SEO Link Wheel.

I am happy I have the dot com as I will have no use for any other domain extension, just in case anyone approached me regarding the .co.uk just saying… Furthermore, if someone then decides to develop the co.uk version there may be a reason to start a UDRP.

Website Development.

It is what came first the chicken or the egg scenario. I developed a website on a dot com (king of domains) long before any other counterpart.

Branding.

This domain will serve as another cog to my ever-expanding SEO link wheel. This domain is a keeper as it has played on my mind whenever I say ‘Cymru’ not everyone I speak to knows what the word means. It is the Welsh Word for Wales and as well as people not knowing how to pronounce it let alone spell it, may also find difficulty remembering it. Hence that is why I am excited to add an addition to my lead generation marketing strategies.

Obviously, the site is not fully developed as I only acquired it today but over the next few weeks, time permitting, I will build this site to accompany my default sites.

I have also kept my ‘Cymru Marketing’ Logo Initials where the (CM) stands for Cymru Marketing, whereas now the initials are reversed to Marketing Cardiff (MC). However had I re-designed the initials the M letter does not sit right on the letter C, hence I have left the lettering the same. As long as I get the traffic what’s a couple of letters in a logo. If anything it makes the logo even more unique and talked about after all ‘Cymru Marketing’ is here to stay and it will always be one of my default websites, with ‘Marketing Cardiff’ as an add-on.

The way I see it the logo is recognizable it has been around for a few years and people who recognize and relate to an image can memorize images symbols and logos far quicker than remembering words. People will see the logo and see it as a trustworthy source, so why confuse people with more than one logo, at the end of the day it is a personal preference and my decision. If anything the logo says that ‘Cymru Marketing Brand ‘ is behind ‘Marketing Cardiff’.

One has to remember that exact match searchable keywords and phrases domain names will rank your website far quicker and will secure global positioning providing you do your SEO correctly.

Having brandable made-up words, acronyms or personal brand names needs extensive Advertising and PR, whilst having searchable words people actively search for will save you money in the long run. Choose your domain names carefully and if you need some help with your SEO link wheel we will be happy to give you some free advice and do a free SEO audit report of your website.

As an example I have my own personal brand domain name www.renataentrepreneur.com but if people do not know who you are and have never heard of you before they are not going to be searching for you. Fortunately for me, I have been around for donkeys’ years so I am well known in certain circles.

Even if you are ranked for keywords that you have assigned in your meta description people are less likely to view your site as opposed to the and exact match searchable keyword or phrase domain name. You would have to be well known or a household name which can take a long time to achieve before people started to search for you.

Valuation.

The domain name www.marketingcardiff.com on estibot.com is according to the bot worth less than $100 but on Godaddy Appraisal Tool it is worth $904

To be honest, I rarely use these bots and whenever I am appraising a domain name. I do my calculations based on Google Keyword Planner and how many searches per month and the cost of the PPC bids would be. I then can advise that having a certain domain name would save the investor in advertising costs.

However, if the domain name has equity such as a product, service, website, and assets then you are talking about a different ball game, and even though I have no intention to sell this domain name my equity which these bots do not know about will increase the value.

.CO Domain Extensions

.CO Domain Extensions.

.CO domain extension on my mind. I wrote an article about a while back on my other blog about .co.domain names and what they mean for companies wishing to adopt the extension if their dot com is not available.

Here is the link to the article: https://ukdomainbrokers.ukwebsitedesigners.co.uk/?p=1217

Now more interestingly here is the definition of what a .co domain extension means: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.co

.co is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) assigned to Colombia.

Now here me out not only do I build websites I also manage PPC advertising and if a client that came to me with a .co domain extension yet was based in the UK I would not advise him to do any PPC advertising for the domain. The reason why and I have dot com domain names aswell as .co.uk I am based in Cardiff UK and have found no matter how hard you try to set ones setting for GEO targeting with the dot com domain names I get a tonne of traffic from the USA. But imagine if I was the client and wanted only traffic from the UK but got traffic from the USA or Colombia as in the .co domain extension before you know it all my budget would be eaten up and I would not be happy with the web designer steering me in the wrong direction.

People are like sheep, a person who has no knowledge of SEO tells a couple of people on the internet that a dot co domain name extension is an accronym of dot com or the word ‘company’ and before long the misinformed information has spread like wild fire with people buying .co domain names without realising the repercussions this would have on their traffic or once they consider pay per click advertising what that would mean to their advertising budgets if they were targeting traffic for their own location.

With that said I do not believe owning a dot co domain name would be beneficial to any company other than businesses in Colombia and it would damage my reputation trying to market this domain extension to anyone other than to the country it is assigned to. Don’t get me wrong I fell into the trap and soon wised up.

Further reading the entity of the following website seems not to have any knowledge of SEO because if he/she had they would be ranking on the first page of Google for the following search terms: Domain Management, Domain Registrars, Registrars, whois, which says they are biased, as they could be the owners of the domain extension: https://www.go.co/about/faq/ Its a bit of a conincidence that there are no names mentioned for me personally to ask them to prove where the traffic was coming from. I would want hard evidence and may just register a domain name and and add analytics just to prove a point.

Here is an example of a UK based website with a dot com domain name setting their GEO targeting for UK only and you can see by the chart that there are other countries, with USA being no 2 on the leaderboard, which if this company was paying for PPC their budgets would be swollen up by other countries visitors.

It is my job to guide companies in the right direction and reading on the internet mileading information and steering companies in the wrong direction is downright shameful.

Overstock.com bought overstock.co this could have been to stop cyber squatters cloning their site and not to help them with their SEO. The same with hyphen domain many companies may buy up hyphen domains to stop cyber criminals.

The following links are another reason why not to use a .co domain extension unless you are from Colombia:

40 Ways To Get More Business.

Advertising & Marketing.

40 Ways to Get More Business.

I have decided today to take a leaf out of my own book and practice what I preach.

With that said I am going to develop a directory of businesses and forums on my site where people can come and hang out. It is in the beta stage at the moment, watch this space.

I may even start a local periodical magazine.

There is a saying ‘If the mountain will not come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain‘ arises from the story of Muhammad, as retold by Francis Bacon, in Essays, 1625: Mahomet called the Hill to come to him. … If the mountain will not come to Mahomet, Mahomet will go to the mountain.

In other words get people to come to you, rather than you going to them. Moving one stone at a time you will eventually move the mountain.

How To Increase Business & Followers.

I noticed today a post on LinkedIn from someone that was connected with me but was not an internet marketer per-se, stating “How to increase followers from 30K to 225K followers” in five minutes per day by commenting #yes

The first thing that came to mind is he has no authority to advise considering he is and what I saw was a clever click bait hack and nothing more. This is a disappointment when people are genuinely looking for answers and come across someone just looking out for him/herself, simply having people click the post for the post to go no where.

Therefore I have taken upon myself to write this post to help individuals increase followers/business. This method can be applied to all social media platforms:

1: Optimize Your Profile Pages, optimise your cover photo and also your profile picture. Make your profile picture look professionally done. Remember to be aware of your background in the photo. A picture says a thousand words. Try to get a professional head shot done at a local photographic studio (when they are open again) or get a friend to take a photo without any distractions in the backdrop.

2: Start with connecting with people, most social media platforms say only connect with the people you know, but what if you have a genuine enquiry, the best thing is to find their email addresses to write to them first before sending them a connection request, especially of you do not know them.

3: Write articles on your pages and link back to articles you have written on your blogs and share these articles with your connections.

4: Make your post intriguing only give a little away and entice the reader to click you post for more information.

5. Share photos on your social media platform pages, instagram is good for this or do infographics and add titles to your posts.

6: Be creative and publish videos, add captivating content that people will be willing to watch. Add humour, funny videos attract peoples attention.

7: Go Live. Livestreaming is not for everyone but if you are happy broadcasting an event or milestone as long as it has good content you will get people watching.

8: Advertise your brochures and share your pdf’s on your business pages.

9: Use hashtags when closing your post text.

10: Don’t forget to tag your connections and companies that may find your post useful.

11: Give your followers valuable advice. Everyone is a guru these days and some can be better at it than others but you only have one chance of being an expert in your niche and the more followers you have the more well known you will become.

12: RSS feeds are a good way of finding trending posts, create “breaking news” posts that perhaps people outside your region may not have heard of. Do not copy posts word for word as that is called plagiarism and you will be penalised by search engines. For me I always use one of my blogs to write articles which I then share with my connections and although I may read something I will scramble it into my own words, even giving my own perspective.

13: Be consistant and active everyday on all your social media platforms. I am perhaps the world worst as I only seem to hang out on LinkedIn because most of my work is B2B but recently I have been asked to do B2C hence I need to alter my mind set and concentrate on Facebook pages and groups more.

14: Create viral posts this could be something like a give away or a competition with a deadline.

15: Join groups on your social media platforms.

16: Create your own groups for your different niches.

17: Create your own business pages on all your social media platforms, keep your professional and personal pages seperate.

18: If you have an event coming up or thinking of creating one, social media is a good place to advertise and market yourself.

19: Once you have a following on your social media platforms do reach out and collaborate with your connections.

20: Set the buttons on your profiles to a “Follow” button.

21: Create a call to action in every post.

22: Promote your social media profiles everywhere, including your website, blogs and email signatures.

23: Cross promote your profile on your other social media channels. For me I have on default business card website that I point people to, this saves time typing out each social media platform I am connected to.

24: Pay per click advertising campaigns are not only good with Google & Bing but they are also is a good way of connecting with people through your social media platforms. Facebook & Instagram is a place where you can connect B2C, this is good if you are targeting a specific category or people. You can fine tune your specifications to the location, age, gender and interests.

25: Try to update your profile page frequently, a stagnant page is boring and will show your audience that you are frequesnt at updating. If you have new services, always keep them updated.

26: Always reply to comments, no matter how trivial, ignoring a comment makes the person who wrote it worthless. Obviously if you have hundreds of thousand of comments pick out the ones that stand out and thank everyone in a generic comment.

27: When people share your posts and pages, thank them.

28: Get your biggest fans to endorse you, this applies to LinkedIn more so than any other social media channel and visa versa, you will be amazed how may people who you endorse will endorse you back. The same goes with review ask your customers to write a review about your brand.

29: If you have businesses that wish you to promote them, do offer to write recommendations, this gives you exposure aswell as exposure for your client, but if the businesses wish more exposure you could offer other marketing strategies which you could potentially charge for the service. I do this free of charge by adding banner ads to all my social media pages and groups I am connected on. This is short lived advertising but for a permanent fixture on my blogs I charge a monthy/yearly fee.

30: Exact match searchable keyword and phrases are so important not only in your domain name but on your website, meta tags and social media pages. When choosing a Facebook page for example use words that people would use to search for your product or service rather than your unknown brand name. Your brand name will become popular over time and it will not be an overnight success unless you spend a lot of money on advertising, I just do not mean Google Ads I mean in publications, newspapers, radio and TV.

31: Make your social media profile searchable, make them public.

32: When commenting on other peoples posts, do not get personal and do not get into trolling arguments if someone does not see the value of your comment. Be professional and do not sell things on peoples posts. You could add a backlink to your company as a signature or hashtag but thats it, don’ be the pushy sales person.

33: Give incententives to get people to share your posts. This could be a free e-book or a discount voucher.

35: Become an influencer.

36. Become a public speaker.

37: Create educational webinars, podcasts, tutorials, use youtube and share your content on all social media platforms.

38. Create a SEO link wheel, of your websites, blogs and social media platforms.

39. Start a blog and add RSS feeds so that in engages people’s interests.

40. Have a subscribe widget or pop up so that you can capture peoples emails and then send them updates or newsletters. Do not install the popup until a person is about to exit your site and not before. I believe it is off putting to have a subscribe popup the moment you attempt to access a site. You need to earn my trust and loyalty before I give my email away.

41. Integrate a chat widget into your websites and blogs so that when visitors visit your sites you can engage with them.

42: Guest blog on other notable websites.

43: Become a podcast interviewer. Invite people to join you in a discussion.

44. Write a book about you and your niche and publish your services and products.

45. Leave business cards on noticeboards in supermarkets, cafes (when they open again).

46. Make flyers and post them through peoples doors.

47. Consider giving out freebies, such as buy one get one free.

48. Start a competition.

49. Consider getting people to market you using affiliate links. https://rakutenadvertising.com/en-uk/

50. Advertise in Magazines and in Newspapers.

51. Offer to do something for free, this could be free web hosting in my case or free marketing or promotion.

52. Wear promotional clothing.

53. Give away promotional merchandise.

54. Word of mouth advertising get all your family and friends to promote you and get their family and friends and before you know it you have a network of connections.

Neom City (The Line).

Neom City (The Line) Domain Names.

For those that do not know about Neom City, it is a Futuristic City that is being built in Saudia Arabia. The Crown Prince Of Saudia Arabia has started construction to build a zero-carbon empire at NEOM, the first major project for the $500 billion flagship business zone aimed at diversifying the economy of the world’s largest oil exporter.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman the future King of Saudia Arabia is only 34 years old, he controls part of the royal family’s vast wealth, which is estimated at up to $1.4 trillion and includes Saudi Aramco, the most valuable company in the world. The heir will ascend to the throne after the death of his father, 84-year-old King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Crown Prince was quoted in saying in a rare televised appearance that the city, known as “The Line”, would extend over 170 km (105 miles) and be able to house a million residents in “carbon-positive urban developments powered by 100% clean energy”. “The backbone of investment in ‘The Line’ will come from the $500 billion support to NEOM by the Saudi government, PIF and local and global investors over 10 years,”.

We have over 30 years experience in the marketing industry and have a very large network of connections on LinkedIn.

The reason for this post is a domain investor brought to my attention the following information via email:

Obviously I have redacted the senders email for privacy reasons.

The questionable link is as follows: www.DiscoverNeom.com it actually does point to a gaming site that looks like a five year old has designed, (apologies in advance to the owner of the site but it looks unprofessional).

Why is Neom pointing to this site anyway if Neom does not own it and clearly have not developed it?

Vistors going to this site will also be confused and will loose trust and damage reputation in what NEOM Stands for.

Due to GDPR it is difficult to find the real owner of this site if their registration details are hidden in whois data privacy settings.

It does not look good for the (The Crown Prince) when he starts a costly project but his marketing people fail to notice the embarrassing error or give good SEO advice.

Perhaps it was an oversight, however I wrote about hyphen domain names being unprofessional the other day relating to one the domain names that NEOM are promoting www.neom-property.com when they could have easily acquired the non-hyphen version that clearly points to a landing page stating the domain name is for sale www.neomproperty.com

The hyphen domain article can be read here: https://marketingagency.cymrumarketing.com/2021/01/12/hyphen-domain-names/

Again I do not have this particular domain on my books but I can find out who the owner is by simply doing some digging around. I am connected with most Neom Domain Investors so it should not be very hard to find out.

All the NEOM related domain names that I am managing for my clients can be found here: https://marketingagency.cymrumarketing.com/domian-store/Neom-City-Domain-Names-c39458057

What is not available can be acquired, just send me a message. Also if there is particular domain that you need we can help to source it.

I will be contacting the NEOM Marketing Company for comment and will update in due course.
